The Zach and White Sandwich and the Crunchwrap Cake
Shauna and I journeyed into West Hollywood to go to Canter’s Deli in search of a glorious sandwich that will soon be added to the menu if our quest proves to be fruitful. It is entitled the “Zach and White Sandwich”: two black and white cookies with scoops of chocolate and vanilla ice cream sandwiched between them.
Chris, our waiter at Canter’s, gave me a puzzled look upon ordering. After having a very long, and heated debate about whether or not this was a legitimate request, Chris submitted to my desire and brought me a complete Zach and White Sandwich along with 10 water refills all within the 20 minutes that I was at Canter’s for. Though a whopping $10.50, the satisfying feeling of sugar erosion on my teeth wiped away the feeling of gloom from my empty wallet and instead gave me an unnatural amount of energy. Be warned. There’s a LOT of sugar in that dessert. While I did enjoy the way that the black and white cookies had a hint of lemon, the cookies were too hard, and not the same traditional cakey texture that we all love about black and white cookies. Also, the ice cream was very difficult to keep in between the two cookies, forcing me to resort to using a fork in order to deliver this mound of heaven into my mouth. If Canter’s is to pursue this dessert, I would say that the cookies need to be cakier, flatter, and the ice cream should be pre-molded with the cookies to form ice cream sandwiches as opposed to messily smashed together. With a few fix ups, this is sure to be a hit. But good luck to Zach at lostangelesblog.wordpress.com, and I hope that I played my part in adding a necessary treat for every inebriated hipster to chow on in the wee hours of the morning.
Soon after indulging my sweet tooth at Canter’s, it was time for some dinner. I headed over to Taco Bell with Carolina, Shauna and Aaron to recreate a meal off of thisiswhyyourefat.com…the Crunchwrap Cake.
THE INGREDIENTS: 3 chicken crunchwrap supremes stacked ontop of each other, with cheesey fiesta potatos, sour cream, nacho cheese and taco sauce in between each layer.
I couldn’t tell what I was eating. And I almost choked a few times from taking bites that were too large for me to handle, but every second of devouring this cake I was in eternal ecstasy. Upon completion, I was ready for some more.
